winemaker: enio cagnazzo
Farming: practicing sustainable
Southern Italy, much like the Southern part of the US, is hot, largely agrarian, and the locals are quite fond of sourcing dinner from the nearby ocean. It’s here, in the proverbial ‘heel of the boot’, where winemaker Enio Cagnazzo has been making wine for more than 20 years. After his formal education in Florence and Turin, he moved South to one of the few slices of Italy not regularly flooded with international tourists where he focuses his winemaking on Italy’s traditional grapes, including this vivid expression of Vermentino. This dry,
aromatic, refreshing wine features
grapefruit zest,
peach, and
apricot on the palate, cleansed by a delightfully
saline finish.
