Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 Rum

The company first introduced Matusalem Rum in 1872 in Santiago de Cuba, it was known as the “Cognac of Rums”. But after Castro gained control of the country the family producing it went into exile and after many years of inner turmoil the brand is today bottled in the city of Monte Plata in the Dominican Republic. The name Matusalem comes from a Spanish proverb “Esto es mas viejo que Matusalem” — or “It’s older than Methusalah” (an almost ageless 969 year-old from the Old Testament).

Matusalem Gran 15 Reserva Rum is a solera blended bottling made from molasses and aged for 15 years using the solera system in French oak casks.
