Description
Mal Bien Agave Spirit “El Tigre Lazaro” is a tribute to the rich mezcal-making heritage of Atempa, Chilapa de Alvarez, Guerrero. Crafted by Tío Lazaro using 100% wild Papalote agave, this spirit embodies the region’s distinct terroir and the dedication of small-scale producers. The agave, which matures over 10-12 years, undergoes a traditional castration process — the cutting of its quiote trunk 9 months before harvest to concentrate its sugars. Utilizing pre-industrial methods like wooden mallets for milling and hybrid bamboo and clay pot stills for distillation, Lazaro and his family produce a truly artisanal expression. Every sip of “El Tigre Lazaro” captures the essence of the land and the craftsmanship behind this unique spirit.
