A welcome addition to the Lagavulin and proof that (sometimes) age is not that important when it comes to whisky. Most tasters rank this just as high as the 16 year old and Distillers Edition releases. If anything it is more assertive and more smoky but it remains well balanced and creamy.
Lagavulin 8 Year Old 200th Anniversary Tasting Notes
Nose: Aroma of sea breeze, charcoal and citrus fruit, along with notes of old wood, breakfast tea, black currant and mint.
Palate: Lagavulin, with complex smoke notes fading into cedar and ocean spray.
Finish: The soft peat and characterful woodsmoke lingers for a long time.
