Hacienda de Tepa Black is a Reposado tequila that has undergone an extra three months of aging in new, heavily charred barrels, which impart its beautiful dark hue.
Most distilleries use toasted oak, which is heated gently to produce a golden brown color. However, their distillery has taken a new approach by burning charred oak barrels at higher temperatures for longer periods. When wood is exposed to high heat, it alters the color of their tequila.
Hacienda de Tepa Black owes its unique color and smooth finish to extended aging in heavily charred oak barrels, enriched by carbonized wood chips.
