Description
Charles Gautier, a maker of high quality oak casks just happens to marry a daughter of a wine producer. Ah, another love story.
That love story lasted for a long while, though. Gautier is one of the oldest Cognac houses, one that was family owned and operated for 10 generations, until 1995.
Gautier’s cellars are located above the river Osme in Aigre (also called “little Venice” of Charente), resulting in humidity, which provides favorable maturing conditions.
Gautier X.O. Gold & Blue – where Gold stands for the sun and light of Cognac and Blue, for the Maison Gautier on the river – is a blend of old eaux-de-vie, aged up to 35 years.
Comment: The XO Gold & Blue is a subtle, round and harmonious Cognac, with a typical “rancio” note.
