Description
92 POINTS: JAMES SUCKLING – Brimming with blackberry and violet aromas, this is a ripe and generous Chiroubles for the 2021 vintage. Exciting tannins and beautiful mineral acidity drive the long, structured and precise finish. Drink or hold.
90 POINTS: ROBERT PARKER – Aromas of rich berry fruit, plums and vine smoke introduce the 2021 Chiroubles Aux Côtes, a medium-bodied, lively wine with a delicate core of fruit and slightly stemmy structuring tannins. The improving quality at Domaine des Marrans has been apparent in blind tastings in recent years, and that’s confirmed by their strong performance in the challenging 2021 vintage, their first in organic conversion. Mathieu Mélinand worked in Australia and New Zealand before returning to the 19-hectare family domaine in 2008, and progress has been incremental. These latest releases are once again very successful and come warmly recommended.
