We’ll be honest; when Blue Run announced their new luxury Whiskey brand is “the future of Bourbon,” we cringed for a moment. But then we tried their 13YO Bourbon in 2020, and in 2021, they released this fantastic High Rye Bourbon. They’re secretive about the source (undisclosed Kentucky distilleries) and its age — but that doesn’t really matter if it offers such a lovely and balanced character.
The bottle design is still gorgeous, and they obviously spent a lot of time working on this blend. It’s also more on a limited side as it comes from just a hundred barrels. The mash bill is 65% yellow corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley; and the proof is 111%.
