Description
Bouchard Père & Fils has been crafting the Beaune du Château cuvée, an exclusive offering from the House, since 1907. This wine is a blend of several Beaune Premier Cru vineyards, each vinified separately to preserve the distinct expression of each terroir. The white Beaune du Château is sourced from four carefully selected parcels: Aigrots, Tuvilains, Sizies, and Sur les Grèves, chosen for their complementary qualities. By vinifying each “climat” individually before blending, the wine captures the unique character of Beaune’s finest sites.
Viticulture
The grapes are harvested manually in small 13 kg cases, with meticulous sorting to ensure only the finest fruit is used.
Winemaking
Pressing is conducted in two stages: first juice is gently extracted, followed by incremental pressing in two-hour cycles. Fermentation is carried out with care to preserve freshness and expression.
Maturation
The wine is aged for 9–10 months in French oak, with up to 15% new oak depending on the vintage, complemented by 3–4 months in stainless steel vats. The cellars of the Bastions of the ancient Château de Beaune provide ideal ambient conditions for ageing, allowing the Premier Crus to develop their full complexity.
Tasting Note
Pale gold with green highlights, Beaune du Château offers a nose of white-fleshed fruits, candied citrus, and subtle hints of brioche and gingerbread. The palate is rich and harmonious, combining delicate oak with the flavours of dried fruits, resulting in a pleasantly full-bodied and elegant wine.
Food Matching
Pairs beautifully with fine cooked meats, meat pies, warm pâté, and snails.
